The annual meeting of ERN-RND took place from 17th to 19th June 2019 in Siena, Italy.
The first day was dedicated to a scientific symposium on “Genetic therapies”. ERN-RND members as well as invited speakers from both academia and industry, updated us on the latest developments in genetic therapies for rare neurological disorders. The day concluded with a poster session, the meeting of the patient advocates, and a joint dinner in the stunning surroundings of our meeting location Certosa di Pontignano.
On the second day, we started with an update on the ERN-RND activities by our coordinator, Holm Graessner, followed by a Clinical Patient Management (CPMS) live discussion, presented by Judit Molnar, Budapest. Members of the CPMS helpdesk were available all day to provide individual help with the system. For the rest of the day, working and disease groups met in parallel meetings, to discuss the different projects and to start planning activities for the upcoming years. In the evening, we visited the old town of Siena, followed by a dinner at Piazza de Campo.
The board meeting on Wednesday morning officially concluded the ERN-RND annual meeting. Overall, it was a busy and productive meeting with plenty of networking opportunities.
